Book Review – One Was Lost

Do you fear being lost in the woods? How about being hunted down by a murderer? This book is about both, and is filled with action from the very beginning. I found this novel to be extremely enjoyable and massively entertaining. It twists and turns and will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Natalie Richards really nailed this book, she beautifully entwines her characters and the murderer, and keeps it filled with questions that will grip you until the very end. You will experience the fear the characters feel right along side them. Here is the synopsis posted on NetGalley:

**********

Damaged. Deceptive. Dangerous. Darling. Are they labels or a warning? The answer could cost Sera everything.

While on a mandatory senior field trip, a flash flood cuts off Sera and three classmates from their group with no way to call for help. But they’re not as alone as they thought…

Someone is stalking them through the woods. Someone who drugged them, stole their supplies, and wrote on their skin. Is it a judgement? A warning? If Sera doesn’t uncover the truth, it’s only a matter of time before the hunter finds her.

**********

This book does a good job of relating to the typical teenage insecurities and using them against the characters, to twist their minds and turn them against each other. This book is also excellent at mixing the horrors of what is going on around Sera and her romantic interests, without detracting from the story. I found the romance off putting at first, but I think I was just being impatient. Once I sat down and quit being stubborn I enjoyed the romance. I don’t really have any complaints, which is rare.

One Was Lost will be available on October 1st, 2016. So mark your calendars! If you like this book by Natalie Richards you will also like her books Six Months Later, and Gone Too Far. This is a wonderful young adult and teen book, that will make you wonder who the killer really is…
