Book Review: A Game of Thrones – George R. R. Martin

Most people have heard of HBO’s Game of Thrones, well this is the book the TV Show is based on. If you didn’t already know that.

First off this series is very very very long, but don’t let that frighten you. These books are very well thought out, and have twists and turns you’ll never expect, and so far the companion TV series has been pretty accurate, but the books have more history and detail you won’t want to miss out on!

I love this series, even though it’s taking forever to read, and some parts do get boring, but it’ll all be better once the boring stuff ties in with the action. I do have to warn you, there is a ton of explicit material. Sex, violence, and mature language are very prevalent in this series. So I recommend it for older teens and adults, it has very mature themes, sometimes I even cringe. I can’t explain enough that it’s not a children’s book in any way.

Another warning is that everyone you love will likely die because George R.R. Martin apparently loves to make his readers cry, no specific spoilers but beware. But it is awesome at the same time when it kills characters. No one is safe in the Game of Thrones!

If you like this you will likely love Lord of the Rings (Probably my all time favorite trilogy!), it has all the fantasy and action you could ever hope for. From white walkers to dragons, you will not be disappointed!

4.5/5 on my official book rating, because it does get a bit slow, but it is all around awesome!

(Still cant figure out how to make the half book images not white)
